Acceptable Use Policy

Effective date: February 20, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of the Thane Terms of Service. By using Thane, you agree to comply with this policy.

1. Prohibited Uses

Illegal activity

  • Host, distribute, or facilitate illegal content or activity under US law or your local jurisdiction
  • Engage in fraud, phishing, or identity theft
  • Violate export control laws or sanctions

Resource abuse

  • Cryptocurrency mining or proof-of-work computation
  • Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks or participation in botnets
  • Network scanning, port scanning, or vulnerability scanning of systems not owned by you
  • Running open proxies or relay services
  • Intentionally consuming resources beyond what is needed for your legitimate application workload

Content violations

  • Hosting malware, spyware, or other malicious software
  • Distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — reported to NCMEC and law enforcement immediately
  • Hosting content that violates third-party intellectual property rights (upon valid DMCA notice)

Platform abuse

  • Attempting to access other tenants' AWS accounts or data
  • Attempting to modify, disable, or circumvent Thane's management infrastructure (SCPs, IAM roles, monitoring)
  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent plan limits
  • Using the platform for load testing or benchmarking of AWS services (as distinct from testing your own application)
  • Reselling Thane services without written agreement

2. Monitoring and Enforcement

  • Thane monitors per-tenant AWS costs for anomalies. Cost anomalies (greater than 2x expected ceiling) trigger investigation.
  • SCPs enforce service and region restrictions at the AWS level — you cannot use unapproved AWS services even if you attempt to.
  • Thane does not proactively inspect your application data or code. Monitoring is limited to infrastructure-level metrics (cost, resource utilization, service health).
  • AUP violations discovered through cost anomalies, abuse reports, or AWS Trust & Safety notifications are handled per the suspension and termination process in the Terms of Service.

3. Reporting Abuse

Third parties can report abuse at abuse@usethane.com. Reports are reviewed within 1 business day.
